Our Story

 

Mabuhay and welcome to Biko Haus Kandela Co!

 

I'm Alyssa (she/her), the founder of Biko Haus and a proud BIPOC AAPI woman. We specialize in hand-poured luxury candles and wax melts that capture the vibrant spirit of Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Candles have this incredible ability to provide both function and beauty, bringing warmth and light to any space. They can also communicate stories through scent, allowing certain fragrances to inspire specific emotions. That's why I founded Biko Haus – to celebrate my mixed "Hapa" heritage (Hapa meaning "half" in Hawaiian) by blending Asian and Pacific Islander traditions into unique fragrances that honor the cultural richness of this region.

Each Biko Haus creation is hand-poured in small batches using a luxurious blend of pure soy wax, organic coconut wax, and all-natural beeswax. We infuse our wax with captivating, non-toxic fragrances designed to spark specific memories and moods.

 

 

Unwind with the calming scent of Sampaguita, the delicately fragrant Filipino jasmine, or finding a gentle pick-me-up in the delightfully sweet aroma of Matcha Milk Tea. 

At Biko Haus, we're all about showing some love to Mother Nature. That's why we embrace the vibrant Filipino spirit of "ukay-ukay," giving new life to vintage and reclaimed treasures. We also house our candles in beautiful hand-poured concrete jars that can be reused and repurposed long after the candle is gone. We're passionate about creating luxurious experiences with a mindful touch for the environment.
