Wax Removal

Read before cleaning out your Biko Haus vessel or wax melter of it's leftover wax.

Hot Water Method

Using a spoon, gently scrape out as much leftover wax as you can.

Pour hot water into the container, leaving room at the top.

The hot water will melt the wax and it will float to the top of the water.

Let the wax completely cool and harden for at least half an hour.

Remove the wax at the top.

Before pouring away the cooled water, catch any residual bits of wax by straining the water through your hand. (wax should never go down your drains. Catch and dispose of it in the trash.)

Rinse the vessel with soapy water and wipe the inside clean with a dry cloth.

Freezer Method

Wait until your wax has solidified and is cool to touch. If it’s too hot, the drastic change in temperature may cause the glass or concrete to crack.

Place your vessel into the freezer.

Let the wax freeze and contract for at least an hour.

Try gently prying the wax off with your finger if you can, or tapping the vessel into the palm of your hand. The wax should pop right out. If that doesn’t work, use a spoon to gently loosen the edges of the wax until it comes away completely.

Rinse the vessel with soapy water and wipe the inside clean with a dry cloth.
